A snapshot of just some of the films in 2023 to look out for this year
Wonka – how will TC come across as the eccentric confectionist
The Pale Blue Eye – Bale starring in the first of Netflix’s big hitters for 2023
Oppenheimer – It’s Nolan, so big cast and big expectation, and likely to succeed
Close – Grand Jury Prize winner from Cannes
The Super Mario Bros. – will this be seen as flogging the franchise to death
Knock at the Cabin – Shyamalan is back, do we expect another terrible film from him
M3GAN – a horror film on AI, exploding over its trailer for one dance routine
Indiana Jones – 15 years since the last instalment… is this adventure still there
The Colour Purple – this Broadway adaption is already on the back foot due to the 1985 masterpiece
Elemental – Pixar’s largest film of the year
Luther: The Fallen Sun – Netflix still buying BBC favourites and taking on the fan base
Cocaine Bear – will this be as convincing as the bear from Revenant
Dune 2 – another one for TC to dominate
Trolls 3 – I must have missed Trolls 1 & 2
The Little Mermaid – Disney continuing with another live-action remake of the classic
Barbie – simply put, why? and can Gosling actually rollerskate?
The Hunger Games – going beyond the 3 books, did someone say Fantastic Beasts?
And obviously, all of the other franchises that are still continuing to churn out repetitive works
Mission Impossible
Spider-Man
Guardians of the Galaxy
Scream
Fast and the Furious
Transformers
